Literature Text

To My Beloved.

I will have to let you go, my love.
I will have to leave your side
and never say your name
and dissolve all that kept us close.

I will have to break your heart, my love.
I will have to hurt you,
and the wound I leave behind
will be great and painful.
You must know that it may never heal.

I will have to say goodbye, my love.
I will have to wash
my hands of you
I will have to erase your name
and forget your face
and pretend that our love
that you were a dream.

I will have to do all these things, my love.
But I will make room for you.
I will keep a place
unfettered with others things,
so that if we should find each other again,
you will remember the way inside.
And I will remember
that you should have never left.
This is what I wanted you to say.
